I this author is easy to read with topical subject matter。 I plan to read more of his thrillers。

What a great thriller! Miles Cookson, who donated sperm at a fertility clinic some 20 years ago, discovers he has Huntington's disease and feels compelled to find any children who resulted so that he can have them tested to see if this genetic disorder has been passed on。 Cookson, a millionaire, also wants to be sure that any offspring will be provided for when he passes away。 Meanwhile, two of the offspring have found each other and started building a relationship as half siblings, one of whom What a great thriller! Miles Cookson, who donated sperm at a fertility clinic some 20 years ago, discovers he has Huntington's disease and feels compelled to find any children who resulted so that he can have them tested to see if this genetic disorder has been passed on。 Cookson, a millionaire, also wants to be sure that any offspring will be provided for when he passes away。 Meanwhile, two of the offspring have found each other and started building a relationship as half siblings, one of whom is the first that Cookson meets when he starts the journey of introducing himself to each child。 This first child, Chloe Swanson, is a waitress who is unimpressed with the wealth of her newly discovered dad but very interested to know what characteristics they have in common also wants to be a part of the journey of meeting up with his offspring/her siblings。 After a bit of a rocky start to their relationship they agree to head off to meet the half-sibling with whom Chloe has already connected。 From this point forward there are so many people who could easily be suspects in the intrigue that is the backbone of the story (you'll have to read the book!) that not only was I always guessing (and usually wrong) but found it really difficult to put this book down。 I have found a new author to add to my list of "must read" authors and a fabulous book for my list of "best books I read in 2021"。 On a personal note, thank you thank you thank you to my friend Martin who knows that I am very interested in genealogy and the impact of DNA matches (which led us to connect with a biological nephew we never knew existed and a very dear cousin who never knew her grandmother had a liaison with her boss - until her DNA results proved her to be kin to me and one of my cousins who is the son of said boss and also never knew of this liaison)。 These DNA tests certainly have an upside and a downside! 。。。more

Reading a Linwood Barclay novel is always exciting。 There’s obviously suspense in a novel like this but what I like is the witty dialogue between his characters。 I also like the way he serves up justice to those that think they are beyond justice。 The only negative thing I can say is that the violence can be quite brutal。 This is only the second novel of his that I have listened to and the narrator did any excellent job of portraying the nuances of each of the characters。 It was a fun read for o Reading a Linwood Barclay novel is always exciting。 There’s obviously suspense in a novel like this but what I like is the witty dialogue between his characters。 I also like the way he serves up justice to those that think they are beyond justice。 The only negative thing I can say is that the violence can be quite brutal。 This is only the second novel of his that I have listened to and the narrator did any excellent job of portraying the nuances of each of the characters。 It was a fun read for our summer road trip。 。。。more

I was chosen to receive this book by entering a goodreads drawing。Find You First is a well written, complicated crime thriller that keeps the reader engaged in the story。 I particularly enjoyed the emphasis on crime pertaining to medical issues。 This, I think, gave the story more depth where character development was concerned。 I would recommend this book to anyone who likes thrillers and/or mysteries。

Once again Linwood Barclay draws you into a great story。 Who is killing the potential heirs and how does Nicky's story tie into it。 A cannot put down story。 Once again Linwood Barclay draws you into a great story。 Who is killing the potential heirs and how does Nicky's story tie into it。 A cannot put down story。 。。。more

Great read! Linwood Barclay's books are always gripping from the first page。Only criticism is that my copy was an "advanced reader" copy and was so full of typos it makes one wonder who proofs the initial printing。 Annoying。 Great read! This was good! Billionaire trys to get in touch with children father by him through artificial insemination。 He wants to leaving them his fortune and also tell them of a crippling disease they may have inherited as well。 Although someone must know because they all start going missing。 Super fast paced and interesting。

This book was 100 pages too long。 But that is usual for Mr Barclay's books。 There are a few that I have read and have really enjoyed but this one was too long and too slow。 Once I got half way through I started to skip a lot as I just got impatient for the book to end。 This book was 100 pages too long。 But that is usual for Mr Barclay's books。 There are a few that I have read and have really enjoyed but this one was too long and too slow。 Once I got half way through I started to skip a lot as I just got impatient for the book to end。 。。。more

Finished Find You First by Linwood Barclay, the current best selling psychological thriller。 This book engaged me from the start, held my interest and delivered a big ending。 It is the story of a tech millionaire who finds out he has a terminal illness, no spouse but nine biological children from sperm donations when he had no money。 He sets out to meet his offspring and alert them to his terminal illness in case they might inherit it from him and bequeath money except some of the nine are dying Finished Find You First by Linwood Barclay, the current best selling psychological thriller。 This book engaged me from the start, held my interest and delivered a big ending。 It is the story of a tech millionaire who finds out he has a terminal illness, no spouse but nine biological children from sperm donations when he had no money。 He sets out to meet his offspring and alert them to his terminal illness in case they might inherit it from him and bequeath money except some of the nine are dying mysteriously。 It’s a great novel。 I looked up Linwood Barclay, since I was unfamiliar with him。 It tuns out he is a very successful Canadian novelist and humorist。 I will be checking out his other work。 。。。more

So many plot twists and characters to sort through but a compelling read。 Money and DNA a winning crime combo。

Great from start to finish!!

A good yarn。 The ending was needlessly sappy。 It was like Barclay got tired and just wrapped the whole thing up so he could do something else。 Also, an editor could have helped the concluding scene。 Two of the characters died with their "heads at unnatural angles to their shoulders"。 Finally, the character Caroline。。。。really? Why did she need an acquitted murder to help with her harebrained scheme? Still, though, this was a fun read。 Probably not meant to replace Dickens in the literary pantheon A good yarn。 The ending was needlessly sappy。 It was like Barclay got tired and just wrapped the whole thing up so he could do something else。 Also, an editor could have helped the concluding scene。 Two of the characters died with their "heads at unnatural angles to their shoulders"。 Finally, the character Caroline。。。。really? This novel was full of surprises -- lots of twists and turns, with several very dramatic moments。 A real thriller!

I enjoyed this book as I always enjoy this author’s work。 I had to make a list of characters, however, as there are a lot of them。 Gilbert’s daughter sort of comes out of left field。 I liked both Miles and Chloe and was pleased about the happy-ish ending。 The plot elements involving Jeremy are rather far-fetched however。

Chris

Audiobook - Entertaining。 Lot of intertwined story lines。

Great read。 Will try and read more books by this author。

Thriller。 Miles is very wealthy, and at age 44, learns he has Huntington's disease。 He is not married and has no kids but 20 years ago, before he became a billionaire, he sold sperm for money。 He needs to find those kids and let them know they need to be tested for Huntington's。 And on it goes from there。 The evil guy is a Jeffrey Epstein character which provides a very interesting plot twist。Quite a story about what being family means--is it biological or is it something more? Super fast paced with many characters and moving parts。 I had to really pay attention to keep up with it all。 I saw the ending coming, as I think all will do, but it's excellent nonetheless and ripped out of recent headlines。 Super fast paced with many characters and moving parts。 I had to really pay attention to keep up with it all。 I saw the ending coming, as I think all will do, but it's excellent nonetheless and ripped out of recent headlines。 。。。more

A bit of a slow starter, this thriller picked up speed and had some nice twists。 Murders are set in motion when a man finds out he has Huntington's and wants to warn all the children resulting from his sperm donation at a fertility clinic。 Questionable practices at the clinic are brought to light, a crazed billionaire is brought into the plot and a team of hired assassins are hard at work。 Makes for an interesting story A bit of a slow starter, this thriller picked up speed and had some nice twists。 Murders are set in motion when a man finds out he has Huntington's and wants to warn all the children resulting from his sperm donation at a fertility clinic。 Questionable practices at the clinic are brought to light, a crazed billionaire is brought into the plot and a team of hired assassins are hard at work。 Makes for an interesting story 。。。more

Excellent book。 I’m not a major fan of Linwood Barclay, but this is a winner。 I would love to see it made into a movie
